Testimonials
“I have found PhysiCo City to be very professional, pragmatic and friendly. They got to the root of the issue early on, and I was given helpful advice for my rehabiliation journey which wasnt too onerous. I highly recommend Aditi and the team there.”

    FAQs
Why should I see a psychologist?
A psychologist can provide a safe, confidential space to explore your thoughts and feelings, offering evidence-based strategies and tools to help you understand yourself better and develop healthier coping mechanisms.
It’s about gaining insight and building resilience for a more fulfilling life.
When should I consider seeing a psychologist?
Other indicators include significant changes in mood, sleep, or appetite, difficulty in relationships, or if past traumas continue to impact your present. It’s also beneficial if you want to understand yourself better, develop new skills, or simply have a confidential space to talk through challenges.
What if I need urgent support or am in crisis?
If you are in crisis or require urgent assistance, it is crucial to contact emergency services by calling 000.
You can also reach out to crisis support helplines such as Lifeline on 13 11 14 or Beyond Blue 1300 22 4636. These services are available 24/7 and can provide immediate support and guidance.
Is the psychology appointment confidential?
If you have privacy concerns (e.g., telehealth at home), bring them up so your clinician can problem-solve with you.
What is the benefit of seeing a psychologist?
Seeing a psychologist can help you understand patterns of thought and behaviour, learn practical coping strategies, reduce symptoms (e.g., anxiety, low mood, stress), and improve relationships, sleep, and overall wellbeing. Evidence‑based therapies (like CBT, ACT, and exposure therapy) are effective across a range of conditions, with benefits that often persist after therapy ends.
It’s a safe space where you can open your mind and allow the psychologist to question and challenge your emotional and behavioural patterns to help you improve and change for the better.
How long does it take a psychologist to diagnose you?
Time varies by concern and assessment needs. Many common presentations (e.g., anxiety, depression) can be provisionally formulated within 1-2 sessions using clinical interviews and validated questionnaires; formal diagnostic assessments (e.g., ADHD, ASD) may require multiple sessions, collateral information, and standardised testing, typically over 2-6 weeks.
Psychologists prioritise a collaborative case formulation, which guides treatment even before a formal diagnosis is finalised.
This is a general guide, and is by no means complete as each person is assessed individually.
What to expect when seeing a psychologist for the first time?
Your first session usually covers your goals, history, current symptoms, risks, and strengths.
You’ll discuss a preliminary plan (therapy approach, frequency, expected outcomes). Most sessions run around 60 minutes and likely leave with initial strategies or resources.
What if I’m not sure therapy is right for me?
An initial consultation can help clarify your goals and options. If another service (e.g., GP review, psychiatrist, community program) is more suitable, your psychologist can provide referrals and point you in the right direction.
